Kyle knows the feeling of excitement of having an idea but he also knows the fear of stepping out to the unknown without a safety net. He knows how to take an idea and build it into something that impacts thousands of lives.
Having grown up in Winnipeg's North End in a family that struggled with secure housing and putting food on the table, Kyle understands many of the challenges faced by families that are currently under-resourced (Kyle does not like the term "Poor.") Kyle's youth has installed a deep passion in Kyle for inner city community development and reconciliation.
Kyle has built a career starting, and relaunching, organizations that empower currently under-resourced communities and individuals. Most notably, Kyle started the North End Family Centre, a community-based non-profit focused on building community and empowering families. The North End Family Centre is mere steps from the house where Kyle grew up. Kyle had no start-up budget but was able to grow the organization which serves 1,400 visits a month in a 3000 sq building where thousands of families have been impacted for good.
Kyle strongly believes in a strengths-based approach to community development; where the target community has real influence and input into all aspects of a work or organization that aims to work with them. To put it another way, any community has the right to say "Nothing for us, without us" and that should always be respected.
